What is Sub Contractor?

A subcontractor is a person or company that is hired by a contractor to perform a specific task or service as part of a larger project. Subcontractors are typically specialized in a particular area of work and are hired by the contractor to complete a specific portion of the project.

For example, a general contractor might hire a subcontractor to install the plumbing in a new construction project, while another subcontractor might be hired to handle the electrical work. The general contractor is responsible for managing the overall project and coordinating the work of the subcontractors.

Subcontractors are different from employees, in that they are not directly employed by the company that is hiring them. Instead, they are typically hired on a project-by-project basis and are responsible for their own taxes and insurance.
