ArchiMate

What is ArchiMate?

ArchiMate is a modeling technique (“language”) developed by The Open Group for describing enterprise architectures. It uses clear and consistent terminology to visually map connections within a business. ArchiMate allows you to visualize how a business is structured—its process, information, and data flows; its technical infrastructure; and the systems involved in it.

ArchiMate is a language while TOGAF is a methodology. There are many differences between the two. TOGAF, which distinguishes between logical and physical ideas, ArchiMate does not distinguish between logical and physical architecture components. While TOGAF has three separate artifacts—Catalogues, Matrices, and Diagrams— ArchiMate is based on diagrams.
